The TFMASA Program welcomes each year a max. number of 20 students. According to the number of scholarships delivered by the European Commission each year, a few places will be available under the Self-funding scheme.
Application procedure for self-funded candidates
TFMASA has a single and unique application campaign for all candidates. Once the first selection round has been completed, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited to participate in the interview process. During this stage, candidates will receive an additional form to complete if they are interested in joining the programme as self-funded students in the event that they are not awarded a scholarship.

- Complete and submit all required documents before the application deadline.
- If shortlisted after the first selection round, complete the self-funded candidate form provided during the interview stage if you wish to be considered for admission without a scholarship.

Eligibility criteria
Candidates may join the TFMASA programme under a self-funded scheme if they are selected for admission but are not awarded an Erasmus Mundus scholarship. Self-funded candidates will be responsible for covering all programme-related costs, including tuition fees, participation costs, travel, accommodation, and living expenses. No financial support will be provided through the Erasmus Mundus scholarship scheme.
During the interview stage, shortlisted candidates will be informed about the possibility of joining TFMASA as self-funded students and will be invited to complete a dedicated self-funded candidate form if they wish to be considered under this option. In case of external funding or sponsorship, candidates may be required to provide proof of sufficient financial support before the start of the programme.
A non-scholarship holder may be offered a place in the TFMASA programme provided that:
- They fulfil the TFMASA admission criteria and demonstrate the academic level required for successful completion of the programme. Applications from self-funded candidates will be assessed according to the same academic and selection criteria applied to scholarship applicants.
- Their ranking among the selected candidates allows them to obtain a place within the TFMASA cohort and follow the mobility pathway defined by the programme.
- They can demonstrate adequate financial resources to cover all costs associated with participation in the programme.
Costs & Fees
Participation costs:
Self-funded students admitted to the TFMASA programme are required to pay participation costs, which contribute to covering programme-related expenses, including tuition fees, programme management, and educational activities organised within the framework of the Master (e.g., orientation activities, workshops, and other joint programme events).
The participation costs are as follows:
- Students from Programme Countries: €4,500 per year (€9,000 for the two-year programme).
- Students from Partner Countries: €9,000 per year (€18,000 for the two-year programme).
Students who have previously completed a degree at one of the TFMASA consortium universities may benefit from a 50% reduction in participation costs:
- Programme Country students: €2,250 per year (€4,500 for the two-year programme).
- Partner Country students: €4,500 per year (€9,000 for the two-year programme).
Eligible students will be informed about the applicable participation costs during the admission process.
Candidates may seek external funding opportunities or sponsorships to support their participation in the programme. However, such opportunities must be identified and pursued independently by the candidates, as the TFMASA consortium cannot guarantee or provide information on external funding schemes.
Living and travel expenses:
Students are responsible for covering their own living, accommodation, insurance, and travel expenses throughout the duration of the programme. As the TFMASA programme involves mobility across different European countries, candidates are strongly encouraged to carefully consider the cost of living in each host location before applying.
The TFMASA programme does not provide financial support for living or travel expenses to self-funded students. Erasmus Mundus scholarship holders receive financial support according to the applicable Erasmus Mundus funding rules.
